How to join a student group and why it's a game changer!

One of the best ways to make the most of your time at University is to get involved in a sports club or society. You'll make new friends, create long-term bonds, and gain opportunities and useful knowledge. Here’s how & why you should participate:

If you have a passion for sport or want to become part of something a bit different then joining a Society or Sport club is a simple and easy way to heighten your overall university experience. Joining a student group, means you will have friends for life and have similar interests as you, and to top it off, becoming an official member is super easy to do!

How to find out more about student groups 

  •  Visit the Students' Union website:  Look over the options that interest you, then follow the sign-up procedures for those that are suitable. 
  • Attend the Welcome Fairs: Meet club representatives, discover the various societies, and register for the ones that inspire your interest. Welcome fairs take place on each campus during September and January. Dates will be announced on our Welcome website
  • Check social media: Stay informed about club events, activities, and how to join by following us on social media. 
  • Go to trial sessions: Before you commit, check out a few different clubs to see which one is the best fit for you. 
  • Chat with current members and officers: Discover details about the club's events and what it's like to participate. 
  • Look for flyers on campus: Discover details about club meetings, events, and membership requirements by looking for flyers distributed throughout campus. 
  • Ask your classmates: Find out which clubs your classmates are involved in and which ones would be of interest to you by asking them for advice.
