One for Aafiyah. It is my pleasure to nominate Aafiyah for this recognition/award. Aafiyah is an outstanding student, who possesses a strong sense of social justice, and advocacy for those who experience intersectional social inequalities, which in turn impacts on their academic and professional prospects.

To that end she has been engaging in a research project, which entails a critical reflection of the experiences of BAME Law students. While it centres on her own experience, what she says mirrors the stories of others - more specifically, barriers and opportunities faced by international students, navigating new legal systems, institutional and societal racism etc.

Her story is part of a collective, which will shape/ reinforce messages about the importance of inclusivity in teaching and learning spaces and professional sectors. Aafiyah will be sharing her story, and best practice at local and inter/national conferences, and in so doing contributing to the field of decolonising Law.
