Medway Activities Awards 2024!

 

The Activities Awards provide an opportunity to recognise and reward our students who have worked so hard to make life outside of their studies as enjoyable as possible. Societies and Sports Clubs are an essential pillar of university life, providing a safe space for students to relax, have fun, and make friends. We would love for you to join us in celebrating our students at The Deep End and for a way to unwind as the term comes to a close! Enjoy a drink on us ??

You can nominate in the following awards:

 

Sports

Most Improved Society This society has shown great committment to improving its offer, from quality of events, to quantity of services to students. This group has worked hard to improve its presence on campus, as well as create a lively, engaging community. 
Academic Society of the Year This society would have shown great member engagement, leadership and most importantly commitment to their objectives set in their constitution.
Outstanding Contribution to Societies This society has been dedicated to improving the student experience on Medway Campus, going above and beyond the expected service. This can be won by an invididual or a group
Society of the Year This prestigious award is given to a university society that has excelled in creating a positive impact on campus life over the academic year. Criteria for this award include the society's ability to engage and grow its membership, the variety and impact of events and activities conducted, contributions to community service or charity, and efforts to promote inclusivity, diversity, and student welfare.
Best New Society Year This society must have been created from March 2023 onwards, and shown itself to be committed to shaping the student experiences throughout the year. From events to marketing to amazing memories, this group has shown itself to rise above the expected standard of societies.

 

Societies

Outstanding Contribution to Sport This award is designed to honor an individual who has made significant contributions to sports at the university, not only in terms of personal performance but also in promoting sportsmanship, inclusivity, and development within the university's sports community. Criteria may include leadership roles, volunteer work, organizing events, or initiatives that enhance the sports culture at the university.
Sportsperson of the Year Aimed at celebrating the top athlete of the year, this award considers exceptional sporting achievements, improvement and performance in sports, dedication to training, and competition results at university, regional, national, or even international levels. A strong emphasis is placed on personal development, sportsmanship, and the ability to inspire and lead others by example.
Captain of the Year This award acknowledges a team captain who has demonstrated outstanding leadership on and off the field. Criteria include the ability to motivate and unite the team, strategic thinking, resilience, performance under pressure, and contributions to the team's success. Additionally, their role in fostering a positive team culture and representing the team with integrity at university and external events is crucial.
Team of the Year

Recognising the collective effort of a sports team, this award evaluates success in competitions, teamwork, improvement over the season, and the ability to overcome challenges. Other factors include the team's commitment to fair play, community involvement, and activities that promote the university's sports program

 

Open to all

Lasting Impact This group doesn't have to be the biggest on campus, but has to have worked hard towards creating a community, facilitating life long friendships, and enhance individual students' life while at Medway. 
Marketing Award This group has worked hard to promote their brand and society, through multi-media, they have created engaging and eye catching artwork to market their events to the right audience. 
Event of the Year This event was ground-breaking in terms of impact, breadth and scale. This event would have been a greeat benefit to all students, whether its academic or recreational. 
Committee of the Year This award will go to the committee who has shown the most amount of unity and cohesion. The strength of a society lies within its committee who are able to work together, deliver amazing events, support each other and work through their disagreements. 
Fundraiser of the Year This group will have shown its committment to fundraising for charity, and volunteering their time to help others. No matter how much they raised, their strength lies in their dedication to putting others first.

 

Nominations close Friday 26th April 2024 at 11:30pm. Students from University of Kent, Christ Church and University of Greenwich can nominate any groups.
